Hey Cookaholics, Chef Kendra here. Today we're making a Broccoli and Cheese Soup. It's delicious,
it's a few ingredients involved, but it's worth it. So let's do what we do and head
into the kitchen and make it happen.
Alright guys, we have quite a few ingredients but the soup is easy to make, so let's get
into, shall we?
We're going to start off with the chicken stock in a pot over medium heat. Go with vegetables
stock if you want. We're going to add the broccoli.
Now we're going to add some chopped garlic to the pot. Then the grated carrots go in.
Next in is our chopped onion.
We're going to give the pot a stir. The last thing we're going to add at this stage is
a couple of bay leaves, just like so. We're going to cover the pot and let this cook for
25 minutes.
In other pot over medium heat we're going to add our butter and let it melt.
Then we're going to toss in our flour and stir that around for a few minutes, besides
the cheese this will thicken our delicious masterpiece.
So once we've cooked the rawness out of our flour we're going to slowly add our vegetable
mix to our roux.
We're going to get at some more stirring. Then we're going to add our half and half.
Once that's in we're going to remove the bay leaves because no one wants a mouthful of
bay leaf while enjoying their soup, guys.
Now we're adding our spices which include cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, Italian
seasoning, allspice and garlic powder. OK, we're just going to stir that in really well.
Now for the star of many culinary creations. Wonderful cheese..I mean unless you're lactose
intolerant. And if you are, sorry. We just going to get both varieties inside our pot,
give it a final stir and that's all it is to it guys.
