In this pose we're going to be demonstrating pincha mayurasana or the scorpion arm balance
pose. So we're going to ask Rissa to come on down and kneel right here facing this direction.
Yeah, she's going to be our base, she's going to help Gina and catch her as Gina comes and
lifts her legs into the sky. Gina is going to come down and she's going to take her arms
next to Rissa's hips. Now a good way to measure is if Gina reaches back to her opposite elbow
and makes a little box. Yeah, the measure, that shows you how wide the arms should be.
Then she's going take her hands back out next to Rissa's hips. Now it's very important in
any arm balance that she presses, use pressure from the elbow down to the hands so that you
take that weight out of your shoulders. So you're going to press down, she's going to
engage her core and that's what is going to give her the lift to lift up. She's going
to curl her toes under and come into down dog at first. Notice how she's keeping her
head looking down and maybe even slightly forward, that helps with the balance. Good.
Now in just a moment I'm going to ask Gina to lift her legs up and Rissa is going to
lift her arms up so she can be ready to catch her. Good. So, Gina if whenever you're ready,
you're going to lift your leg up. Good. And there she is, she has her partner here to
help her. Good. Gina is going to engage her core muscles and press out through her feet
as she presses into her forearms. Beautiful. Whenever you're ready Gina you can bring one
leg down and then the other. Great job! And that's pincha mayurasana.
