Hello Everyone! This is Chloe from KFoodAddict! :-)
This September 12th was Chuseok which is Korean's Thanksgiving day.
It's one of biggest public holidays in Korea.
So today, I want to show you how to make a popular Korean holiday dish
which is called Japchae.
Japchae is a mixture of vegetables.
So it's very healthy and has great colour.
You can see Japchae at pretty much every party or holiday in Korea.
For this recipe, you will need
First, let's boil the glass noodles.
I want to make Japchae for 2people.
This much is enough.
You can buy this in any Korean grocery store.
Look at that! It has even Japchae picture on the cover.
I'm sure that you can fine it easily.
Boil the noodles in boiling water for 8-10minutes.
When it's boiling, we can prepare the other ingredients.
Cut the onion into thin slices.
Mushrooms as well.
I don't want this part so just take it off.
Cut the mushrooms into thin slices.
Also cut the capsicum same as onion and mushroom.
If you want, you can use carrot and spinach instead of green&red capsicums.
I just like to use capsicum
because they have beautiful colours and it gives some crunchiness to the dish.
put it on the plate.
And next, let's cut the beef.
I'm using a thin slice of beef.
If you want, you can use pork instead.
So roll it.
Cut the beef into thin strips.
Beef is the only meat product in this recipe
So if you are a vegetarian, you can simply remove beef from the recipe.
and it becomes a perfect vegetarian meal.
After cutting, put the beef strips into a bowl.
And add
2Tsp of soy sauce
a half Tsp of crushed garlic
and a half Tsp of sesame oil.
Mix them well to get well seasoned.
I think the noodle is ready.
To check, take one noodle and see if it's soft or not.
If it's still hard then you know it's not finished yet.
But my noodle is ready to go now.
Drain the water off the noodles.
Get a big bowl and put it in.
This noodle is actually very long.
So just cut it once or twice to make them easier
to EAT!
And add
3Tbs of soy sauce
1Tbs of sugar
and 1Tbs of sesame oil.
And mix all together.
Be careful. It's HOT!! ( shake it shake it ♬ )
Alright, it's time to fry EVERYTHING XD
Add some oil.
about 1Tsp.
First, fry mushrooms and onion.
on medium-high heat.
You may like to add some salt for flavour.
a pinch of salt.
sprinkle sprinkle ♬
So now, onions become clear.
Remove them from the pan.
(and place to the side)
Re-oil the pan.
Fry the capsicums.
I don't want to lose the colour and crunchiness from the capsicums.
So please don't fry too long.
Fry the capsicums for around 2-3minutes. (a pinch of salt for flavour.)
And it's done.
(place to the side.)
Finally, fry the beef.
You don't need to add any oil,
as beef already contains some oil.
(Oh, the smell is killing me...)
Alright, beef is done.
Let's mix them all together.
Add all ingredients to the noodles.
And don't forget to add some sesame seeds.
Mix it up!
If you need to add some more seasoning,
now is your chance to add it.
(Almost done, al...m..ost! :-D )
Let me taste some.
Um, I think it needs some more salt.
The noodle is very chewy.
And capsicum is crunchy
Mushroom is juicy.
Beef is tender.
Everything is perfect! ;-D
I hope you enjoy this dish.
Japchae
And thanks for watching.
Gam Sa Ham Ni Da! (Thank you in Korean)
See you next time ;-)
