Let’s talk about how to resolve eczema. To effectively treat eczema, which is an inflammatory
skin issue, we first want to understand the cause of the skin inflammation and eruption.
Once we understand the cause and take steps to eliminate the triggers and heal the skin,
the cycle of skin eruptions will end. Food allergies and intolerances tend to be a common
cause of eczema. It is easy to identify food allergies and intolerances with an Elisa blood
test or by following an elimination reintroduction diet protocol. We also want to explore adrenal
gland insufficiency as a trigger of eczema flare-ups. The adrenal glands make cortisol,
which is an anti-inflammatory hormone. When we have been chronically stressed, either
physically or emotionally, our cortisol levels tend to be suppressed. Suppressed cortisol
levels leave us susceptible to many types of inflammatory conditions, including inflammatory
skin issues like eczema. During a flare-up of eczema, we can promote skin healing when
we address the cause of the skin inflammation associated with the flare up. Since food intolerances
are often a cause of eczema, we’ll start by removing triggering foods from the diet.
We’ll also give the body a concentrated dose of nutrients that alleviate inflammation
and support skin healing. Some nutrients that are extremely helpful
in skin healing and inflammation modulation include: essential fatty acids like evening
primrose oil and fish oil, vitamin A, probiotics and zinc. Eczema is a condition that can often
be resolved very quickly when we are able to identify and remove the triggers. It’s
not uncommon to see a complete resolution of symptoms in one to two months, even in
individuals who have suffered from eczema for years. If you would like help with the
