Hello, name is Ben and I am the am the Assistive technology Trainer at the RCPD, Resource Center
for Person’s with Disabilities at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. This
video is a demonstration of how to download books from the STAR database. The STAR database
is a database of books available to registered RCPD students. To access the RCPD database,
go to books.rcpd.msu.edu. From here you must login first. To login, go to the top of the
page and select log in. Please use your MSU NetID and password to login. If you are having
issues logging in, please contact your specialists. In the upper right-hand corner, you can search
for books. You can search for either title or author.
This is a page of queries of books available; please make sure you select the correct tile,
edition, author, year, and format of the book you are looking for.
This page is a more detailed page of the book that you are about to download. Once you have
found the proper book, press request this download. Here you must select the correct
semester and course you will need for this book. Select complete request and request
this book one more time.
Please make ensure you review the agreement before you download the book. You must purchase
the book to download the book electronically. After you have downloaded the book, you can
have the book read to you through Kurzweil. You can learn more about Kurzweil, please
