so we're doing some fun things with Moverio; but we got to thinking, can we
actually help people with this technology? One of the things we thought
of was live subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing. So we brought
Jacob here today. He's deaf, and we met him at Siggraph (tradeshow). We wanted to show him what we're up to here.
And this is Abby. She's going to help us translate. What we've got here is a cell
phone running google translate, a wireless mic system and that's just hooked up to Moverio
using the video input board and an HDMI converter.
I'm going to talk in the microphone and we're gonna use google translate to convert my
speech to text in the glasses. You'll be able to see what we're seeing because
we've got another Moverio hooked up to a camera.
Let's try them on!
So what was the last movie you saw in the theater?
I saw the movie
Pirates of
the Caribbean.
So what's your favorite food?
I love sushi.
What's your favorite type of sushi?
the kind I like to eat
with fish that I like is salmon
Cool. So, what did you have for breakfast this morning?
This morning for breakfast, I had
some waffles,
and also some hotdogs; but my dad made it.
Hey, thanks so much for coming over to help us out.
As technology improves, we're gonna get smaller everything's gonna start
converging. None of this stuff was meant
for this application we really wanted to just try it out and see how it worked. I
think it worked out a lot better than we thought it would. What we're hoping is that people will
see this online and get inspired by what we're doing
and improve it and find a better way to do
this. So make sure to check out our website and see some of the other cool stuff we're doing with Moverio.
