Male: The Better Memory Minute with Teri Barr.
Female: What kind of impact do you think your pets have on your brain's health? Well, many
of us have animals we consider family. Ours have been with us for 17 years.
So, it may not surprise you to learn the new research showing most people will do anything
for their pets, including giving up cigarettes. The health survey just completed by Michigan's
Public Health Department indicates one in three people say they'd stop smoking to support
their pet's health before their own.
Scientists say it's an appeal to the emotional part of a smoker's brain, the same part that
loves their pets, and they believe it may get others to think about kicking the habit.
I'm Teri Barr.
