>> Nathan: Hi everyone, welcome to Ortris.
Today we are going to take a look at how to update our installed applications that you use on a daily basis automatically
Before we get started I just want to let you know that
this is very helpful if you have brand new pc with no applications installed or if you want to update all your applications that you use on a daily basis
Either way here is how you can go about it
Step 1 - Go to ninite.com, That is N-i-n-i-t-e.com
Select All the Applications you want
OR all the applications you have installed
on your computer from the list.
As you can see Ninite got a lot of applications in it
Once you selected all the applicaiton, go ahead and click on the big green button that says
Get installer
This will download the installer
Go ahead and close your browser and then run the installer
If checked Chrome or Firefox to update make sure the browsers are closed
As you can see, if you have requested application, it is going to
Check if you have the right version, if you don't have the application. It is going to download it for you
Now go ahead and take a break and Relax
When you get back you can see the results
As you can see, it skipped Firefox, because I forgot to close it, Oops!!
As for Chrome, you can it skipped because it is already up to date
The once that says OK are the once that has been updated.
Now, if you noticed, I used the word "Automatically" in the title of this video
So far, we initiated the whole process, it was not done automatically.
What if we want to run this on a regular basis and check all the applications are up to date
Let me show you how you can do that
Step 1: go to your Control Panel- then go to Administrative Tools and Open Task Scheduler
Once you open Task Schedular, Create basic Tasks on the right hand side panel
Type in your name and description. I typed "My Automatic Updater" and then hit Next
Select if you want to update daily, weekly, monthly etc. I selected monthly and then hit next.
In this screen select when you want to run this task. I picked first of every month.
Start date shows, when you want to start the task.
Obviously, we want to start the task right away.
Once you selected the month and day. Hit Next.
Here we can select what is the task going to do?
For our purpose, we want to start a program
For our purpose, select start program and hit next
Now select browse to ninite file that you downloaded before. It could be in the downloads folder
Just incase, move it to a place where you feel more confortable not deleting the file accidentally.
Once you selected the file, go ahead and hit next.
Make sure you hit, open the properties dialog and hit finish
Now the properties window is going to open up.
Now make sure you select run with highest privilege
We select this so that when we run this task, the computer does not ask for permission all the time.
Since I am away from the computer, I want the task to run automatically with out my presense
Also, from the drop down menu select Windows 8 or the windows you have installed
Since I have Windows 8 that is what I selected.
Each of the tabs above have more options if you are interested.
Once you are done, select ok and click on "Task Schedule Library" on the left hand side
And you should be able to see the task you just created.
Here is mine that says, automatic updater
To see if it works, right click on it and hit run
As you can see it runs perfectly and you are done. Before you leave
For all you linux gurus out there, ninite has a linux version as well. so play around with it.
If you are still here. Please click on the like and subscribe button
Here are two of the videos you might have missed.
On the top you can see how you can change the windows 8 start menu background
I even show you how you can blur you wallpaper when you go to start menu.
So go ahead and check it out
On the bottom, I show you step by step directions on how to jailbreak your apple device
To the new iOs 6.1 firmware.
Once again Fellows, Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video
Have a wonderful day.
