Hi, this is Doctor Susan Riegg,
from SusanRieggMD.com. Today I am on
the 17th day of the HCG diet. I'm not really losing weight very quickly,
I am at 179.2
pounds, so I am 7.8 pounds down
a.m. my goal is to lose 10 pounds
so moving slow I've probably will
get my ten-pound goal and then do my wash out and maintenance
um I received an email question
from um lady by the name of Patricia
cool asks me the following question she said
I have PCOS which means polycystic ovarian syndrome
I have PCOS obesity and here's to Chisholm
do you think that the HCG diet would help me
Patricia yes
I do think it would help you um
I've had at least a dozen patients with PCOS go on a CiCi's
diet and all of them were very very successful
and so I think this is just to create
question so um I decided to make a short video just
to talk about PCOS a little bit and how
HCG diet can be so incredibly helpful for this particular condition
this condition was first described in 1935
by H to American gynecologist
um serving stein senior and Michael leventhal
and to condition was first called stein leventhal syndrome
it's a very
am complicated endocrine disorder and
actually is very common in young women
and is characterized by multiple
variably sized just in the ovary actually in both ovaries
um as you can see here it's a combination
love genetic factors in lifestyle factors
there are numerous hormonal changes that occur
primarily characterized by increased and urchins primarily
testosterone and DHEA although there is
a problem with very low progesterone
because of lack of ovulation and then com
increase insulin and insulin resistance
so then because I've the insulin resistance we have
Tom increased type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome
associated with obesity increased numbers a Bulgarian follicles
an ovulation associated with infertility of course
with the elevated androgens we have increased hair growth
here citizen acne cardiovascular Christian
all kinds of other health-related problems in order to diagnose
polycystic ovarian syndrome just there
there's a couple different ways to look at the criteria but
currently we're looking at a diagnosing it
by filling to have the three criteria listed here
either showing um polycystic ovaries
on ultrasound examination having
an ovulation are reduced or
um no periods or having elevated male hormones
such as dhea or testosterone so this is just a simplified
diagram to show
what happens with ovarian follicles normally
in the ovary the follicle smoocher
and form a mature follicle with an ovum
and debt rises to the surface of the ovary and releases
a an ovum for ovulation but in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome
that can't mature and multiple follicles
form and this is a very characteristic appearance in PCOS and
this can be seen on alter sounded it's referred to as a
com
chain of hurls I can be seen on ultrasound it looks exactly like it
chain of pearls home but none of them
come to maturation and as a result
we have no
ovulation no formation of a corpus luteum
no production of progesterone excessive production of testosterone
and excessive production love om
insulin swell so these are hun number of symptoms
and the cheek constant hunger in a village
inability to loose weight sugar cravings teak
hopi city and so on
estrogen dominance for just earned efficiency all kindsa pour Mon
imbalances
and polycystic ovarian syndrome
there's quite a bit of literature on describing the genetics of PCOS
the reason I love to help patients with weight loss using
HCG diet is because obviously there
significant long-term health implications for PCOS
and as we all know its very challenging and difficult for patients who lose
weight on their own
so om because I've this
metabolic consequences in general consequences
the PCOS we really want to help these patients
lose the weight and reduce their risk for subsequent
health problems home
sold the symptoms a polished as a covariance syndrome
obesity increased facial and body here
are here so to some stations frequently have lost scalp care because I've
elevated and urchins
very frequently infertility
insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes
we've already talked about the polycystic ovaries
irregular men she's in a min arria
acne not only on the face but all over the body the back the chest
the lakes and so on
so that's a quick I am summary
love PCOS I strongly advocate the use
%uh HCG diet for PCOS
