cannot remember colorado legalize recreational use of marijuana of course
washington state it as well
and they did it by direct ballot initiative in the last election if you
haven't noticed
uh... colorado in washington
haven't broken out in complete anarchy
uh... with society about the crumple
so all of the doomsday scenario is that a lot of people were talking about the
just flat-out didn't happen
so i want to give you guys an update on the rules and regulations and how they
actually control the marijuana trade
uh... so you see how effective it is and how smart it is
so will talk specifically about colorado
first thing they did is limit the number of marijuana dispensary sp
and where they're legally allowed to go
so they can be within
uh... one thousand feet of schools drug treatment facilities or child care
facilities
and uh... this mirrors similar restrictions in
many state marijuana laws
also local jurisdictions can implement their own independent licensing schemes
if they want to make an entirely band marijuana snapple *** specials you
uh... that in a lot of cases
i would argue it's even over-regulated at this point
uh... they limit
who can attain a marijuana license some criminals for example are banned uh...
and anyone who plans
too
site marijuana business inside of food establishment their band
i guess the reason is that that would give uh... the restaurant a competitive
advantage
because if you get your customers five
will
by more food
so i did and that
uh... products will be subject to state oversight and testing
license suppliers and retailers are required to provide a sample of their
product to a state testing facility which will likely verify the purity
potency in safety of the products and eliminate
the risk of black-market purchases
sometimes laced
with other drugs
the limit insure interstate purchases
license marijuana re retailers can only sell
a quarter of an ounce per transaction to non-residents because they don't want to
drugs
flowing into states where it's a legal
retailers producers and consumers
uh... will pay a hefty tax
the law that governor hickenlooper
assigned would impose a fifteen percent excise tax
and a ten percent sales tax
uh... the first forty million
of this revenue will go toward school construction
but state voters will have to vote on whether to approve the tax king during
the two thousand fourteen election
additional state and local taxes on all products may result in a total
tax-rate in excess of thirty percent
so uh... there's also
uh... laws limiting the t_e_c_ levels to five nanograms while driving
and actually some of the things they did in colorado
and while i may disagree here there
slightly with of onto the rules and i i would be in favor of tweaking some of
them or eliminating others
you know what this is men
it's *** brilliant is what it is
i mean you get an entire
new product
you get a new industry created it's an economic boost
decrease jobs you increase revenue to the government
you know all the deficit hawk should be in favor of it is based off that
you literally that increase personal freedom
you cut down aren't unnecessary arrests
and jail time
i mean you make it so that the government can say what's going on
inside your head okay im gonna a minute throw you in jail because of that i mean
it's good all around them
and now proud of colorado proud of washington state
were its in its infancy and you know obviously the rules and regulations will
be sweet as time goes on
but nonetheless man
uh... this is a model that the united states should adopt
on the federal level
