Hi, my name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to take a
few minutes to show you what to look for when buying yourself a new set of pots and pans.
Alright let?s start with your front line pan you're main pan that you're going to use in
the kitchen. It's going to be your saut? pan. Unless you do nothing but soups. Most of us
do make stuff besides soups. Saut? pans are going to be what you're going to fall back
on most of the time. Some people call them frying pans, some people call them skillets,
and some people call them saut? pans. It's all the same thing. A couple of things you
want to look for once you have decided on a structure and surface. These are both non-stick
aluminum with steel handles. Coupe of things that you want to look for is, (one) weight.
You want to get something nice. These are nice and thick as you can see. There are also
kind of unusual in that they kind of have a rounded lip on them. Which is more of a
restaurant kind of thing? This is actually a sauce pan, but it has a squared lip on it
as opposed to the rounded lip like you will see on this. So once you decide on the right
pan. You're going to need a couple of sizes. I feel as thought you can't go wrong if you
get a ten inch pan and you get something large like a twelve or a fourteen. I've actually
got a six inch too, which I never, never, never use. So, I've got my eight inch here
which is kind of my go-to for just single serving stuff. I'm just making like a little
pasta or just tossing a single serving of vegetables. And then there is this pan, which
I swear by. This is the pan I use for almost everything. You can saut? in it because it
is a saut? pan. At the same time you can grab the handles and throw it in the oven and roast
stuff in it. It's got a glass lid that goes on top so it becomes a brazing pan as well.
You can also fry in it, because you can put the lid on it and keep the splatters at bay.
If you're going to have one saut? pan this is the one to go for in my opinion. Make sure
you get a lid for them too. They usually come with them. Make sure you get one that has
a lid, because it's going to be you're all-purpose. I use this pan I would say, eighty percent
of the time. I even make soups in this pan sometimes. If I'm making just like you know,
a half a gallon of soup, a small amount of soup. I can use this to make soups. I can
cook macaroni and cheese in this. I can cook flat top steaks in this instead of going outside
and turning on the grill. I can cook eggs in this. You name it; I can cook it in here.
So, I'm a big fan of this pan and I can't say enough good things about it. When it comes
to good saut? pans, pick what you need. You don't need an oval omelet saut? pan. You don't
need a silly fajitas saut? pan. You just need something like a ten inch range or something
bigger like a twelve to fourteen preferably with a lid. So, that's all I'm going to tell
you about saut? pans. You've got to get one of these though.
