Is it normal to only poop once a week? I've heard that it is, and that it is dangerous.
It could be a sign that you are dehydrated. Your body isn't getting enough liquids to
flush away its waste.
I drink plenty of coffee and soda.
Those may be drinks, but they are dehydrating. You need water or juice.
Someone told me it means I need to go on a raw diet, but that won't give me enough protein.
A raw diet would solve the problem only because of the amount of fiber you'd be taking in.
You could get the same benefit from eating a bowl of oatmeal or carrot each day.
It'd also be cheaper than many of the raw food shakes I was being offered.
Some people poop twice a day, others every few days. Once a week is at the outer limit.
What else could I do?
Are you eating a lot of meat? Some people living on the Atkins diet or a hunter-gatherer
lifestyle end up with constipation because they get a lot of protein but not enough carbohydrates
and fiber.
No, I hardly eat any meat at all.
Too much white rice and white bread with little roughage could cause this, too.
Roughage, rubbish, it's all low quality food.
Low nutrient density, but it isn't rubbish. Roughage, yes, because it is high fiber.
I'd hate to think I have to eat like a rabbit to clear my system.
You could just do what your grandparents did and enjoy prune juice.
No one enjoys prune juice.
Try apple juice, since it is high in fiber.
I prefer cider.
Coconut water is cool these days. Coconut is high in fiber and contains a natural laxative.
That I could be seen sipping in public.
