Hello my name is Mario. Welcome to another Weapon Guide. This time I will be reviewing the second
unlockable Assault Rifle included in the Close Quarters DLC, the SCAR-L.
This Light Belgian Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle
or in short
SCAR-L is an Assault Rifle in Battlefield 3 available only to the Assault
Kit.
With a magazine of 30 rounds with one in the chamber and
supporting two fire modes only
automatic and single shot, this weapon is intended for the long range use.
Statistically this Assault Rifle is not that impressive,
almost all its values are lower if you compare them to all the other
assault-only weapons.
However the predictable recoil could make it one of your favorites.
To unlock this Assault Rifle you will have to complete an
an assignment called “Set us up the bomb”
which has three requirements:
First, of course, you must complete the previous assignment called “Shepard”
Then you must get 20 kills with the underslung grenade launcher and
finally you need to get 15 kills with hand grenades.
This Assault Rifle supports several useful attachments that will help you to
improve your accuracy,
hide you on the minimap or reduce your weapon recoil.
Selecting a good loadout depends on your style of play and the goal you are trying to achieve.
To help you make a good decision I will show you a bullet spread chart for each one
of the combinations possible. Let’s start when you don’t select a
secondary attachment
that is no heavy barrel,
no suppressor
nor flash suppressor.
First with no attachments selected
Then when selecting the foregrip
and finally
with the bipod.
Now when you don’t select a primary attachment or when you decide to equip the
underslung rail. First with the heavy barrel. Then
when selecting the suppressor
and finally with a flash suppressor.
Now let’s take a look at the bullet spread charts when using the first
unlockable primary attachment
the foregrip. First,
with the heavy barrel. Next
when selecting the suppressor and then
with the flash suppressor
And finally if you decide to select the Bipod
your bullet spread charts
will be something like this when you deploy it
First with a heavy barrel. Next
when selecting the suppressor
and finally
the flash suppressor.
The SCAR-L has a rate of fire of 620 rounds per minute
a bullet speed of 580 meters per second and a distance before the
bullet dissapears of 870 meters.
All those values are not impressive at all
and actually all three of them take in one way or another one spot at the
bottom three of all values in the Assault-exclusive weapons.
The damage is similar to almost all the Assault Rifles,
in distances lower or equal to 8 meters you will get 25 percent of
damage
and in distances greater or equal to 50 meters you will get 18.4
18.4 percent of damage.
All of this in practice means the following,
to take your enemy down you need
2 shots in the head in close quarters or 3 when far away
4 shots in the torso in short distance or 6 in long
the same number of bullets when shooting in the arms
and for the legs is just one bullet more, 5
and 7.
The SCAR-L is good if you are trying to find an alternative assault rifle
however
don’t expect a significant difference if you compare it to the other rifles.
This weapon excels when selecting either the flash suppressor or the
suppressor
since the recoil is decreased when equipping any of those two attachments, of
course depending on the situation you could select either the foregrip or the bipod
I personally like the foregrip because it helps my offensive style of play.
If you are playing some Rush and you’re attacking you could equip the underslung
rail, the smoke and the suppressor, that should increase your chances to arm
arm the M-COM. If you play some team deathmatch
selecting the suppressor will be beneficial as well, actually
when I’m trying to be really offensive either attacking on rush or when playing any deathmatch-
kind of mode
I like selecting this attachment,
the benefit of the med kit and the suppressor is a lethal combination.
combination
There are two loadouts I use the most when using this weapon, and it depends if I’m
attacking or defending
If I’m defending I like using the KOBRA red dot sights,
the foregrip and the suppressor and if I’m attacking I like using also the KOBRA
again, the underslung rail, the suppressor and of course the smoke.
In both cases, I like using the MP412 REX and either the Explosives or
Cover Specialization
This weapon is not the best Assault Rifle
but still it's fun to use and really easy to control, if you want to try a different
weapon for the Assault Kit you could give it try
but honestly you won’t be missing anything at all if you never use this weapon.
