Filing Section 16 forms using DCAF is simple, especially since DCAF was developed utilizing
an intelligent database that captures most of the reporting data once, and uses that
data to streamline the process for filing reports in the future. So let’s take a look
how DCAF makes all this happen. Here, we’re going to file a Form 4. The
process for setting up the Form is simple. With a few clicks of the mouse, you’re ready
to report a securities transaction. In this case, we’ll report the purchase of 1,000
shares of Common Stock in the open market for $1.00 per share. You’ll notice that
once we report the transaction, DCAF automatically updates the aggregate holdings reflecting
the reported transaction. And if you need to add an explanation or footnote, the process
couldn’t be easier. Just click on the Explanation button to add your footnote. Finally, if you
need to review the applicable instructions for completing the Form 4, simply click on
the instructions tab, where, without ever leaving DCAF, you can review the relevant
instructions – a useful feature that greatly increases your efficiency.
As with other forms filed using DCAF, you can collaborate with others to ensure that
you’ve completed the Form 4 correctly. And if you need to add a power of attorney authorizing
another party to file the form, DCAF accommodates, allowing you to quickly upload and attach
the exhibit to your filing. Once you’re ready to file, you can preview the document,
check for any comments by outside counsel, and if desired, revise the filing. If everything’s
ready to go, simply click the test or live file button, and the process is complete.
After live filing, if you want to confirm your aggregate holdings, all you have to do
is click the Review my Reporting Entities tab. There, you can review each of your holdings.
This feature ensures that subsequent reports accurately reflect your cummulative holdings,
reducing the risk of errors. While there are other Section 16 filing applications
available to reporting professionals, none combine the features, functionality and ease
of use available with DCAF. And they certainly don’t allow you to file other required reports
from one technologically advanced, intelligent filing platform.
