The Iraqi government has released a video of what it said was an attack on rebel vehicles
near Ramadi city, which killed a number of Islamist militants.
Government forces are battling an al Qaeda offensive in western Anbar province near the
Syrian border.
They met tribal leaders to urge them to help repel al Qaeda-linked militants who have taken
over parts of Ramadi and Falluja.
The militants have steadily tightened their grip in the vast Anbar province in recent
months in a bid to create a Sunni Muslim state straddling the frontier with Syria.
Iraqi forces have shelled and launched multiple air strikes against militants over the past week.
The fighting in the region have been intensifying recently and although officials say dozens
of militants have been killed, the number of civilian casualties isn't known yet.
