The Romantic Rationalist: God, Life, and Imagination in the Work of C. S. Lewis. That's the theme
of our National Conference this September 27-29, 2013.
And one of the reasons this year is the year for our focus on C. S. Lewis is because it's
50 years since he died on November 22nd, 1963, the same day John F. Kennedy died. But the
main reason is because those of us who are coming to think about him and speak about
him have been so profoundly influenced by him as have been hundreds of thousands, yes,
millions of people through his writings.
The romantic side of our affections have been awakened and our eyes have been opened to
see the world in ways we didn't see it before Lewis came into our lives. And for rationalists,
he helped us think about God and about life in ways that we didn't think before we met
C. S. Lewis. And so for myself, at least, I will say, Lewis has had, since about my
21st or 20th year on, a massive influence in the way I see the world and the way I think
about Christianity.
So I am excited about getting together in this conference to go deeper into the life
and ministry of C. S. Lewis. So I invite you to come. I hope you'll come on September 27-29,
2013 here in Minneapolis at our National Conference at Desiring God.
