So my name's Samantha, and I'm a pharmacist. I am a manager and owner of a pharmacy, community
pharmacy.
And I guess I was really lucky in that all the pharmacies I worked in as a young pharmacist
embraced the program and had it available for me to use, and that was just from being
on the floor with a customer, being able to utilise the Fact Cards, right through to have
the support of our pharmacy assistants who'd done the inPHARMation training and there were
modules in the pharmacists to read, for the pharmacists to read, then as well.
What I've loved is watching how the program's developed, and these days we've got access
to it electronically, so we can email it to our patients, we can print it off in-store
if we happen to have run out of a hard copy, so it's made it really accessible and all
the younger staff have really embraced that as well, as well as some of our younger patients.
Another really exciting component of the PSA Self Care program are the Action Kits, and
what I have found extremely valuable inside of that is they empower one of my staff members
to completely roll out a health promotion, which is an evermore increasing service
which we're offering in the pharmacy.
There's nothing else in community pharmacy that I've seen that offers such a complete,
cost-effective, patient-customer friendly, staff friendly, training program and resources
available for our customers.
If I was talking to a colleague who didn't know much about the Self Care program, I wouldn't
hesitate in telling them that it's a business decision that they can't miss. They can't
miss that opportunity.
