I’m Carmen Thompson, and I’m with the National Park Service.
I serve as the Midwest Region’s
Inventory and Monitoring Program Coordinator.
With this particular LCC,
I have many roles.
I serve on the sub-committee for the technical committee,
and I'm also a technical committee member.
On occasion I will represent our
Regional Director on the steering committee as well.
So I’m very entrenched in this LCC.
Because of our involvement in the technical committee
and the steering committee
we’re seeing the results of what
the other projects are bringing to the table.
And through the inventory and monitoring program,
we are able to look at
how our data can fit in with
what's being collected through the LCC.
I’m also looking at
some of the particular projects and how some
some of their management objectives can tie into
some of the things that we’re doing through the INM program as well.
I just saw a project earlier
where they are looking at
LIDAR data in the James River Basin,
in North Dakota and South Dakota.
The PI was mentioning how
they're looking for additional opportunities
to collect land cover data and LIDAR data
In North Dakota and South Dakota
through the Park Service,
and through our INM program,
we recently just put a contract out this week
to collect LIDAR data for Knife River Indian Villages.
So there are those opportunities to partner on the cost sharing,
and bring those entities together so we can all share the data.
