Warner Bros. gets on board for a Veronica Mars Movie -- under one condition! Hi everyone
Im Brian Corsetti and TVline.com has all the details.
Fans of the Veronica Mars series are still mourning the cancellation of the show six
years later!
But one thing Hollywood can’t take away is their hope the Rob Thomas-created series
will one day hit the big screen.
Turns out they’re not alone, with Veronica Mars leading lady Kristen Bell assuring fans
as recently as last summer that the feeling is mutual.
Up until now, the closest fans have gotten to a reunion is this photo Bell posted of
herself with her former co-stars Max Greenfield and Enrico Colanti at an LA Kings game last
month.
Following years of resistence from studio execs, Bell and Thomas are taking matters
into their own hands by launching a month-long fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com that
will guarantee the production and distribution of a Veronica Mars movie.
Thomas wrote on the site, “Kristen and I met with the Warner Bros. brass, and they
agreed to allow us to take this shot. [...] Their reaction was, if you can show there’s enough
fan interest to warrant a movie, we’re on board.”
So just how much will it take for the studio to get on board? $2 million.
The duo is calling asking fans to show their support by donating as little as a dollar
towards the project. There are also rewards to those who donate more, with gifts ranging
from a DVD set of the Veronica Mars’ series...to a digital copy of the movie before its release!
And if you happen to have $10,000 lying around, that kind of dough lands you a speaking part
in the movie. Now, if the $2 million goal is not reached, fans are not charged a penny
and we say goodbye to Neptune forever.
If you want a taste of what a Veronica Mars reunion might be like -- Bell, Thomas, and
other show alums like Jason Dohring and Ryan Hansen have got you covered in this new video.
You can catch the full video on TVLINE.COM, and to donate head over to kickstarter.com search Veronica Mars.
