Josh Atwell here, roving reporter at Cisco Live 2012 in San Diego.
I'm here with Mo Afzal and we're going to talk a little bit about Smart Call Home.
Now Mo, what is Smart Call Home?
-Josh, Smart Call Home is a service that enables our customers to
increase their network availability through proactive monitoring and
increased operational efficiency through resolution of their issues.
-Ok. So essentially, it's your first line of defense to identifying issues that are in your environment.
-That is correct. -Sounds pretty powerful. So how do customers take advantage
of Smart Call Home? How is it engrained into the Cisco products?
-Almost all of our product lines do have Smart Call Home enabled within the devices.
The customers would have to just enable the service so that it can talk back to Cisco;
so that we can analyze the problems that we are seeing proactively and then give our customers
the right information about what's going on within the hardware of those devices
so they can take proactive actions and increase their network availability.
-So it sounds like a lot of admins out there can sleep a little bit easier
at night knowing that somebody has got the fort and watching out with Smart Call Home.
So Smart Call Home is included in all the products that Cisco sells?
-That is correct. Almost all of the product lines do have Call Home features enabled in it and
we do support them on Smart Call Home. -Well as an operations guy, I'm a huge fan of Smart Call Home.
We see it in play in our environment. And so, I definitely think that our Cisco customer base
is probably taking advantage of it as well. Thanks for your time Mo, I appreciate it.
-Thank you. -This is Josh Atwell signing out at Cisco Live 2012
