Hi this is Camille with POSGuys.com. Today we're taking a look at Intermec's SG20T. This
is a 2D imager which is fast and highly configurable.
It would be great for high volume retail and has some kind of interesting and unique features
that we'd like to cover today.
As mentioned earlier the SG20T can scan 1D
and 2D barcodes.
Those are some smaller ones with a lot of data so it's reading that right now.
It can go down as far as 4 mil size.
And that is 7 mil as an example of how small that actually is.
It can read PDF417s and also this book has some interesting configurations which you
can get right out of the box for reading damaged barcodes.
So see how messed up those barcodes are, if I enable damaged barcode reading I can scan
We also noticed that the damaged 1D enabling seems to help with reading barcodes on screens
so
while it's not necessarily intended for reading off of cell phones it works pretty well that
way.
Because this is a 2D imager bright lights don't really affect the barcode scanner itself.
It will scan just fine in bright light.
And for the range it gets about 12 inches away from the barcode scanner but.. yeah it's
about 12 inches maybe a little bit more.
And then it gets down to about 2, 2 inches away.
And you can see that targeting reticle
it's a very unique targetting reticle with the white light and then the red borders that
show where the barcode should be when you scan.
That red beam right there is only a guide, this is actually an omni-directional scanner
so you don't need to line it up with the barcode you can scan from any direction and it should
scan the barcode just fine.
In the configuration utility you can change the color of this LED. It can go from dark
blue to pink to purple to red whatever is going to best fit your branding. You can also
shut the light off if you don't need that in your store. There are configuration utilities
provided by intermec that make this a very easy process and it just turns into a matter
of printing out a barcode or scanning it off the screen.
So the SG20T is very well suited for high volume retail it also does have a health care
model which is healthcare white but the scanner itself has an IP30 seal so it wouldn't be
ideal for a location where it might get wet.
We really like it, it's one of our favorite new scanners out right now. It's got some
intersting high tech kind of features with the changeable color on the barcode scanner
and the unique easy to use targetting reticle.
It has a five year warranty and is available in the grey or the white. If you would like
to purchase the SG20T or just want more information give us a call at POSGuys.com.
