Interviewer: Can you tell me your name and where you're from?
Landon: My name is Landon Rosebury and I am from Texas.
Interviewer: Where did you volunteer? Which location and which project?
Landon: I volunteered at a health clinic in Xela, Guatemala.
Interviewer: What were your main tasks of the volunteering?
Landon: Mainly record keeping and assisting in anyway possible with one of the doctors
there, as well as another part of the clinic. Interviewer: How was your volunteer experience
in general? Landon: It was great. I learned a lot. It
was my first time on my own out of the United States, and I loved every minute of it.
Interviewer: How was your accommodation like? Landon: Great. My host family was very nice
to me and kept me well fed. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
Interviewer: How was the support and the coordination from A The Broader View, both in the United
States and the coordinators on location. Landon: I don't think I could have done this
trip without them. I remember my first day ... I was just completely lost and they set
me up with people that spoke English and Chilean. I've hung out with them every day since, taking
trips or doing extra-curricular activities. It's all been through them.
Interviewer: Do you have a favorite memory of the trip?
Landon: My favorite memory would have to be the first day, walking into the health clinic,
expecting to do minuscule tasks, giving shots, doing record keeping and not knowing that
I was walking into a *** clinic and helping out there. I was good, a good experience,
though. Interviewer: Would you recommend this program
to future volunteers? Do you maybe have any tips for them?
Landon: I would recommend this to anyone who wants to travel abroad and just have a good
time and serve people. My only tip would be stay staff. Listen to the coordinators; they
know what they're talking about. Just have fun. Don't worry about anything. Just have
fun with everything. Interviewer: Okay. Thank you and have a good
trip back. Landon: Thanks.
