My name is Daniel Padilla and I'm the facilities manager here for the Mission Foods in Rancho Cucamonga
Mission Foods Rancho Cucamonga is actually the largest facility that Mission has.
We have twenty-four production lines running twenty four hours a day seven days a
week. At this facility we roughly do about 250 million pounds
of product per year.
My name is Lucy Gonzalez and I'm the Vice President of Sustainability
for Mission Foods.
Our president decided that
it was time for Mission to make a commitment to
protect our planet and decided to create the sustainability department.
As an Edison account executive
my goal is to be
the customer's trusted energy advisor.
What I do is basically understand what the customers' energy needs are and learn
their operations.
As part of the sustainability initiative we saw the need to focus on reducing energy consumption.
Mission Foods has completed two major energy efficiency projects
We've had a number of improvements you can say
help reduce energy. We received about 60,000 dollars in incentives
for our lighting retrofit; we have received just over 90,000 dollars for our air compressor project.
We've saved roughly about
2 million kilowatt hours
Both those projects earned them
more than 160 thousand dollars in incentives.
Currently we're on a base interruptible
demand response as well as Demand Bidding with Southern California Edison.
We've identified opportunities for them to participate in Automated Demand Response programs.
Which will allow us to pick and choose
what equipment would actually be involved
to reduce energy consumption
automatically instead of relying on our employees to shut down equipment.
We roughly curtail about 800 kilowatts during an event which will net us a rebate of up to
250 to 260 thousand dollars. Taking advantage of some of the programs is a must.
A lot of the projects would not have gotten done without the help of Edison.
