Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of Expert Village and we'll be looking at correcting common
problems in children. Summary; we've learned a great deal through these sessions and I
believe that it would be very, very beneficial to you and your child. You'll learn to have
fun, you'll have far more confidence every time you read to your child and you'll understand
and hopefully practice that reading is everywhere. And you'll be able to find some of the common
problems your child might be showing while they're reading. You can have fun with it.
So, we looked at how we learned the importance that we have to have activities in our learning
that hearing and sight and watching and modeling behavior is so, so important to teach a child
to read. We learned that reading is everywhere, it's up in the clouds, it's a grocery store.
There's opportunities at every instance to teach a child to read. We've taken it step
by step to learn to see reading through a child's eyes. We've even looked at Egyptian
hieroglyphics to see what they're seeing. Modeling, the importance of how you read,
how you treat books, how you think and how you talk about books, it's never enough just
to read a book. There's a beginning activity, the book itself and an ending activity. And
hopefully a lot of smiles enjoy. It's also important of playing reading rhyming games.
The reading rhyming games, they're not silly, they make all the difference in the world
in pronunciation and enunciation, literation in high scoring achieving children as they
get older. And, the importance of playing as I said and you've got to keep the child
alive within yourself too and keep on playing. Common problems for young readers, we've looked
at assessments and how we handle them and what we do with it. Most of all and the most
important, important concept is to have fun while you're doing it.
