Hi everyone and welcome to Nicko's Kitchen once again.
Today we're making probably one of the most requested things,
here on Nicko's Kitchen and it's something I almost get asked to do,
on a daily basis, so we're going to do it today.
We're making pancakes.
Alright guys so today we're doing one of the most,
Well one of the most anyway. Pancakes.
Now guys we're going to be serving these with a chocolate syrup,
and ice cream, ok now this is how I usually do my pancakes,
they're fluffy and they're great to serve with anything sweet,
because we're not going to be putting any sugar in our pancakes.
I always serve something sweet with them because remember,
you've got to keep everything in balance,
if you have sweet pancakes plus sweet toppings that go with it,
it's just this... you know, big sweetness thing and it's too much,
it is too much for people so, you want to contrast the sweetness,
with texture, and that's what the pancake is all about.
The pancake is the main event, don't worry about that,
but we want it to be nice, fluffy, golden brown,
have that beautiful doughy like texture, that airy texture,
and then we can serve it up with some ice cream and chocolate syrup.
So guys this is what you're going to need.
Self raising flour, now if you don't have self raising flour,
just use plain flour and add some baking powder to it,
and all the measurements are that way on the side of the page.
You'll also need some full cream milk,
some butter and an egg.
Right guys, lets get started.
First things first I want to get our flour,
and I want to sift it.
Now guys I want you to repeat this sifting process three times,
ok so three times, so take the flour back out and sift it again,
back out, sift it again, three times because that,
is going to get all that beautiful air happening,
inside the flour, and you won't get this dense pancake.
Alright guys, then we want to add our milk.
And our egg.
Now guys very important,
using a whisk because we want to keep that air in there.
Just slowly mix it around.
Just thought I'd take some time out from our pancakes here,
to ask you a special favour.
I'm going to be doing an interview with Nicko,
and I want you to ask the questions,
so for the first fifty people,
that ask any question you like,
it could be about cooking or anything else,
please post your question below in the comments section,
and we will be doing a video in the next few days,
on Nicko's blog channel so make sure you go and subscribe there,
and I will be answering all your questions,
and will be reading out your usernames and where you come from,
and all that sort of thing and we'll have some fun with it,
so the first fifty questions only,
post a comment below, here on this video,
go and subscribe to my Nicko's blog channel,
my new channel, and we'll answer your questions and read out your usernames.
Thanks guys.
Now guys if you weren't having anything sweet with this,
you can add some sugar to it.
I will put the measurements if you were going to add sugar to it,
in the sidebar.
It's also the time where you could add some nutmeg,
or cinnamon just to give it a real lift.
Right guys our pancake batter is done and you can see there,
look at that, and that's what we want.
Just these beautiful streams of batter, we've got all the lumps out,
absolutely beautiful. So, now it's time to get cooking.
Alright guys we're over here at the stove and I want to add in our butter,
now I know that looks like a lot of butter, but trust me you'll need it,
and that is also the secret behind a good pancake.
Don't use vegetable oil or anything like that,
we want to get this nice golden crispiness,
on the outside, and you can only get that,
from butter.
So, a little bit more than usual,
but trust me, it's worth it in the end.
Alright guys so once our butter is nice and golden brown,
and just that nutty brown look to it,
we're just going to grab some of our mixture,
bring it over to the pan,
and straight in like that.
Also guys, what we're looking for is,
we're just looking for the bubbles to start appearing,
on top of our pancakes.
Alright guys you can see these little bubbles just appearing on the top so,
just going to put our spatula underneath,
give it a flip, beautiful.
now, you can keep doing some more,
but we're going to serve these guys up right now.
And we're going to serve them up with some ice cream,
and then guys straight over the top,
some chocolate syrup.
Now guys, check that out,
doesn't that look YUMMO?!
Look at that, we've got that beautiful golden buttery pancake,
beautiful ice cream, chocolate syrup, it does not get any better than that.
Lets give this a try.
That is beautiful, everything is in balance.
You've got the sweetness of the ice cream,
the richness of the butter on that pancake,
and the crunchy texture of the pancake,
then you get into this light fluffy dough that's inside,
and then that chocolate is just floating around your mouth.
Absolutely extraordinary guys,
this is a must and I hope it's been worth waiting for,
because many of you have been waiting a while for me to make this,
so we finally have today.
Anyway guys, pancakes with chocolate syrup and ice cream,
delicious...
You guys take care, and I'll see you next time.
