Alright, so you have all of this digital media stored on your computer, right.
But you want to be able to watch all of that stuff on your home theater system.
You want to be able to feel the recoil of the Terminator's shotgun
through your big system. Right? Right.
Well, this makes it very easy to grab all the media in your house
and watch it on the big screen,
and we're going to tell you all about it in just about, what, four seconds?
Four seconds, hold on.
Hey, check this out.
It is a very nice wireless media center extender
from the people at D-Link.
It is the D-Link DSM 750 HD Media Center Extender,
and what's great about this thing is
it's going to look really good in your home entertainment center,
and it's going to allow you to stream all of your media,
from you Windows Media Center PCs,
or from your network attached storage devices that support UPnP.
So, it's going to be able to pull everything.
So, if you have three or four computers in your home,
you're going to be able to pull all of that stuff to one location
over your network in your living room.
Of course, you don't have to use it in your living room,
you can use it whereever you want to.
Attach it to a big screen TV
and your home entertainment audio system, alright.
This thing, if you've ever used Windows Media Center on your PC before,
this works exactly like Windows Media Center does.
It basically gives you the exact same experience
on your big screen TV
without having to hook up another computer
to your television.
And this will give you full access
to everything that Windows Media Center has to offer:
the DVR functionality,
it gives you access to all the 25 different media portals
that are available to you through Windows Media Center;
it gives you access to the Internet Television beta
that's out there for Windows Media Center right now.
If you have Windows Vista or you have Windows 7,
chances are you have Windows Media Center
but maybe you haven't really used it
because you're using it right there on your LCD monitor.
This is going to give you a perfect media experience
right there on your big screen television.
It's going to push up to 1080i to your TV.
Not quite 1080p,
but it is going to give you a nice, high resolution stream.
It's able to do that because it uses Wireless n.
You'll notice the three antennas right here,
it does use n-spec wireless.
So bandwidth issues are not going to be present at all.
In fact, you also have an ethernet connection as well,
so if you have an ethernet cable handy where ever your television is
you can also use that, too.
Now, you can also set this up very easily
if you have a Vista or Windows 7 machine.
All of your network settings can literally be preconfigured on the computer.
You simply take the USB, plug it into this
and it will copy all of your network settings automatically.
You don't have to worry about even setting this thing up
because it will handle it for you.
And, as I said, you're also going to be able to connect
to any of your network attached storage devices on your network
at home as well.
So even if you aren't running Windows Media Center on your computers,
if you have an UPnP enabled NAS in your home,
this will also connect to that
and pull all of your media from that as well.
So this gives you access to all of your movies,
all your TV shows that you've downloaded,
all of your streaming stuff,
it's going to give you access to all of your online radio stations,
all of your music that you have on your PC --
everything is going to be able to come through this box right here.
And it's built of very high quality components,
very easy to set up.
As you see along the front,
really all you have over here
is a power button and a USB port.
And the USB port is, of course, for doing service
and adding all of your wireless settings,
and this is for turning it on.
Around back is where you're going to find
the majority of the connectivity over here.
You're going to find two audio outputs:
one Optical, one Coax.
So it should work with just about any of your home theater systems out there.
You have an S-Video output.
You have a composite video and stereo audio outputs.
You also have component HD outputs
as well as an HDMI output.
And, right over here, you've got your LAN port
and your reset button.
So, that's all you really need to hook up,
and you're probably only going to use a couple of these.
If you are hooking this up via HDMI,
all you have to do is plug in your HDMI cable
and your power cable. And that's it,
and then you're all set up.
You pre-configure your wireless settings on your computer,
plug in the USB stick into the front here,
and you're all configured and ready to go.
And, of course, if you don't have a great wireless signal
near your computer, or near your TV,
just hook it up the ethernet to it.
It has plenty of connectivity, so you're not going to have any problem whatsoever.
It has a very nice remote control as well.
That's going to give you full access
to all of your Windows Media Center functionality.
You have your Quick Access button right here,
which of course brings you to your main Windows Media Center menu.
You have Quick Buttons to get to your PVR,
to get to your online guide,
to get to various options,
to get to live TV
if your media center computer has a tuner built in.
And, of course, you have all of your other normal remote functionality
built in as well to this remote.
So, you're not going to have any problem navigating
the entire Windows Media Center world with this particular remote.
So, if you've been looking for a very easy,
very high quality solution,
because remember: when you're buying components for your home theater system,
you get what you pay for.
So you want to get something that's nice and high quality
with high grade components,
because you don't want the weakest link in your entire media center experience
to be your media center extender.
So, if you're looking for one component
to bring together all your photos, your music,
your streaming radio, your videos,
your TV shows, your recorded stuff --
all to the big screen in your living room --
this is a great choice for you.
