Once your EC2 instance is up and running,
you can connect to it to deploy your application.
In this step, we’ll connect to an Amazon EC2 instance,
deploy a sample application, and then update the application
to use Amazon CloudFront, Amazon Simple Storage Service,
and Amazon Relational Database Service.
To connect to a Windows instance, you must retrieve the
initial administrator password first, and then use it with remote desktop.
You will need the contents of the private key file from when you created your key pair.
To connect to your Windows instance, click on the Amazon EC2 tab
in the AWS Management Console.
Select US East from the region dropdown box, then click on instances in the navigation pane.
Navigate to the instance that you created,
right click on the instance, and then click Get Windows Password.
Notice that it will list the mykeypair file that you created.
Click Browse to locate that file.
The private key contents will be pasted in the Private Key text box.
Click Decrypt Password.
Next you can copy by selecting the password, and hitting Ctrl+C.
Then click Close.
Next, right click on your instance, and select Connect.
Click Download Shortcut File.
Click Open With.
Click OK.
Click Connect, then paste the password into the password text box.
Click OK.
Click Yes, and you will be connected to your Windows EC2 instance.
It is a good idea once you connect to your instance
to go ahead change your password.
From then on out, every time you connect to your EC2 instance,
you will use the new password that you've created.
Next, connect to the server with IIS Manager.
From your Amazon EC2 instance, click Start.
Click Administrative Tools.
Click Internet Information Services Manager.
Expand the local host node, and then expand the sites node.
Right click on default web page
Select Manage Website.
Click Restart.
To test to see if our website is working,
minimize your remote connection
and find the DNS name for your load balancer.
To find the DNS name of your elastic load balancer,
go to your EC2 tab, select Load Balancers,
find your load balancer name,
and where it says DNS name, highlight and copy the DNS name.
Open up a new browser window, and paste in the DNS name.
You should see the default web page for IIS.
Now you know you can successfully connect to your EC2 instance through your web browser.
