to be proud of? Not a universal view.
It's reported to have cost around 11 million dollars, a figure that has raised a huff among
visitors, especially as it's not yet finished.
The tower is on an island in Yangzhong county in eastern Jiangsu province, itself not a
well-trimmed machine. Public records show that local government bodies here are the
most indebted in the country but officials say they're managing that debt. The design
was inspired by the globefish, which is native to the area - and officials want to promote
the tower as the biggest metal construction and plan to apply for a world record.
