so first off you want to drape the tie loosely around your neck
and you want to have one end longer than the other
so you want to get this long end
and put it on top of the short end
behind it up
and around making a knot at the center here and you want to tighten this knot around your
neck
once you've tightened the knot
get the top end, put it to the side, ignore it for the moment, you won't need it right now
then you want to get this lower end
and you want to pick it up and
put it across the centre and back on itself
just like that
then you want to get this top end, the one that you ignored a moment ago
and this comes straight down the center
straight down the center of the other
half of the bow
and once you've done that you want to get this front bow
and you want to pinch it together
and when you pinch this together, you'll notice there's a hole that appears at the back here
can you see it?
and you want to get this lower bow
and you want to put it through that hole
just poke it though you want to get the base end of it and poke it through the hole
until you have about an equal amount of fabric on either side
so you pull through this half here and this is the other side and you want to have an equal amount on each side
and at this point you can let go
and you have an almost tied tie it looks a bit messy, but
you're most of the way there
so at this point you want to think about making it look neater so you can
fold down the front
make sure it's all the right side of fabric
and then you want to tighten it So there are a couple ways of tightening your bow tie
because a loose bow tie never looks good
so the best way of tightening your tie is to pull on the neckband. So as you pull on the neckband
the tie gets, the knot in the centre gets smaller
and the tie starts to looks like a traditional bow tie like that
so the construction of the tie
you have
the knot in the centre, and you have the front bow
right here
and you have the back bow, right here and on the front bow you have
a single layer of material on one side and a double layer on the other
and then the back bow
you have a single layer of material here and you have a double layer on the other side
so if you want to tighten it
if you go to the front layer of material on the double side
you can pull on the inside of it here
and pull it through that and tighten the bow in the centre
and it will make this side bigger and you can adjust it by pulling here
and just making sure they're equal
and you can do the same on the back one apart from you have to pull the front half of the double side of material
so this side right here just pull that it'll tighten the bow, it might tighten the neckstrap a
little
and you can adjust, just to make sure looks good
and once you've tied you can re-tighten it again on your neck strap by pulling on
tightening it here
making sure it's tight on your neck
and there you have it
that's how to tie a bow tie
