Hey, How are you Tracy, come on in to the zone. Okay let's see the place, the zone.
Welcome this is my space Come on in, this is the waiting room and back here on this
wall on the other side is my office come in a have little look. This is where I have a
lot of my appointments when I've got a group of people one at a time they come in here.
We're interviewing Tina today who is an intuitive consultant and this is your waiting room.
Yes it is excellent, so do, you're working out of your home. Now do you own the house
or do you rent the house? Did you buy it with the view that you were going to run your business
from here? At the time I wasn't thinking that actually, and it has turned into a great place
for me to operate my business from and I love the fact that it separate from the family
home so people come in a separate entrance, they don't have to come to the front door
to get into this office space and it did turn out to be quite good a good location. But
wasn't my intention when I purchased the house no. So this actually is space that was an
apartment over the garage? That's right. And so you have to do some renovations here in
order to make it acceptable for an office space. Yeah, mind you, when you are really,
the fact that it was an apartment was really convenient, because it already had a kitchen,
it already had a bathroom and we just had to put up a couple of walls and separated
the space a little bit. Right now we're sitting in my waiting room. And I have a separate
room that is an office for where I do my readings. What was your initial investment to renovate
this space to an office. I think it was just a couple thousand dollars, not much. So tell
us um how is working from home and is it interfering with your family life or is it beneficial?
What are the advantages, disadvantages working from a home space? I well when I need to check
something in the oven it's very easy to pop down and go and have a look at it, but it's
convenient because I can keep track of what the rest of the family is doing and in between
clients you know I've got I got the opportunity to throw dinner in the oven if I need to and
pop back up stairs for another quick appointment so yes it's really very convenient to be working
from home. What are the disadvantages? Sometimes you get a little bit lazy because you can
throw in the laundry and you can... How is that lazy? Well because instead of focusing
on work or do it now a flyer or promotion or something I think oh yes I have to do laundry
and I pop downstairs and you know it distract me is what it does. Sometimes that's a little
bit of a disadvantage I think. Were you nervous or anxious about starting your home business?
Was it a scary prospect for you? No, Not at all. That's not my personality to be scared
doing something new so it's more a matter of my desire to have it as perfect a set up
as possible that that makes me delay my, my business ventures, you know it's not it's
not that I'm scared or nervous about it its, it's really very enjoyable to have the business
at home and get things moving and feeling better accomplished and successful in what
I'm doing but, you know it's just I want to make everything perfect. So that kind of gets
in my way sometimes. Would you say that this is your passion? Yes it absolutely is I love
doing consulting I love speaking people I love going into that space where I can see
things other people can't see, I love that. Yeah that gives me a high makes me feel really
good. Is there anything that you regret about opening a home business? Not so far I you
never know but I don't think I don't think there's going to be regrets here. There's
nothing that I can see that the disadvantage or that holds me back from doing the kind
of work that I loved to do. When you run your business Tina do you find yourself following
a formula to reinvest back into your business some people reinvest 50 percent of everything
they earn back into promotions or marketing do you have a formula for that? I don't have
a formula for that but, when I when I need to move forward in a certain promotional way
I will of course take I usually just take whatever I need and put it back into that
promotion and I guess I'm not very good at the business end of, you know with keeping
track of what I'm putting in or taking out. Just as long as everything gets covered and
I am moving forward that's all that matters. How are you marketing now is it is it word
of mouth? Are you doing a monthly promotion or do you advertise in print or you have a
website like how you do your marketing? I do have a website, I've had it up and running
for about a year now and I've also started putting out e-mailers every couple of weeks
to my client list my base and there's more word of mouth, I'm doing more advertising
myself and getting some of my clients to do some of my advertising, they just tell people
so getting referrals is really satisfying because it says its a little pat on the back
I guess and that makes you feel good, I'm trying to move forward in a variety of different
directions now just to capture new markets. How do you measure your success and where
do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years in terms of your home business? How do I measure my
success, I measure my success this is going to sound really silly, I measure my success
by how I feel at the end of each appointment. When I feel good and I usually feel pretty
good I feel successful. So when the people that I am speaking to tell me how much I've
helped them how, they appreciated my view point and see things in a different light
that makes me feel successful that makes me feel really good and so for me it's, sure
money is great and everybody needs money to move forward but the satisfaction that I feel
and the happiness and the joy that I hear from other people that's what makes me feel
successful, more than the money. So where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years in terms
of your business at home? Five or 10 years, in huge demand. Everybody's going to want
to have an appointment with me because it's just going to build and be like fire like
wild fire. Tell me how many hours are you working in the business now compared to when
you started how long how old is your business. I've been doing this work for more years than
I care to mention, but out of the home here I would say steadily for the past year. The
website I started in the past year and it seems that my hours are getting I'm doing
it and contributing to it and building the business more and more each day compared to
when I begin it was, it was not as much of my day now it's definitely more of my day.
Would you, what would you say is advice to anybody else thinking about opening home business?
Get on it get to it you know do it if it's what you want to do it and nothing she should
stand in your way. There is going to always be people around you the support you and help
you and help you make your dreams the reality that you want to be experiencing so and I
think that everybody should give it a try. I think you should give it a shot and see
what happens in and be positively in you're thinking about it and just do it. Tina I wanted
to ask you one more question well I've got lots of questions for you. I could go on like
this forever. So could I. Tell me how has working from home enabled you to have a better
life? Because I get to spend more time with my family and the fact that I can do my work
from anywhere, I can be out at a family gathering or doing something fun with the family and
I could be in a park and I'll stop for fifteen minute consultation or I could be sitting
on the dock and with my feet in the water and do a reading. So I think that's really
great because my type of business I don't require any, I don't need anything I just
need a phone. So you don't need inventory you don't need a equipment you don't need
anything but a phone. Your phone is your equipment. In fact that only need that if persons with
me. That's right that's right they just hand you the money, that's it, ask you to talk.
That's amazing that's a fantastic business. I think that must be the ultimate business.I
don't think it gets better than this. Exactly. Wow, that's great. Yes, in the future I'll
be traveling more and I'm really looking forward to that as well as speaking to larger groups
and I'm also working on a book and so that's going to be coming out in the near future
so yeah it's all looking good. Very wonderful, thank you for talking with us today. My pleasure
thank you. Tina has special powers but don't worry she's not from mars she says we all
have special powers it simply intuition or the small voice within. Tina decided many
years ago to hone those skills and talents because she saw the value and felt the gratification
of helping others to understand and manage their daily dilemmas stresses and challenges.
Tina weaves her intuitive powers into a complimentary repertoire of tools in her kit of help advice
and healing she knew that raising a family in doing what you wanted to do with her life
personally and professionally were not conflicting or impossible objectives Tina's interest in
passion in the world of the unknown and intangible combined with her desire to help others was
a lifelong dream and led her to a natural conclusion to make it a business. It just
made sense she says that when you do what you love you will get better and better at
it and personal and financial freedom follow . Tina's largest investment was in time expended
like going to school she had to learn and practice diligently in order to developer
skills one step at a time she converted an apartment above her two car garage into an
office for in person meetings the most of her work is remote via Skype and telephone.
She added skills as she identified the need recognizing that her services were complementary
to other approaches focused on serving the betterment of mankind emotional and physical
well-being instead of resisting other approaches like faster EFT she will consider them and
the value they bring to her clients possibly integrating them. Her objective is always
to help better the life of her client sometimes it's about intuitive insight and sometimes
it's about helping them to cope with the here and now. Tina loves what she does and has
absolutely no regrets. She's very happy about having made the decision to make it a go many
years ago. Tina faced a lot of scepticism in the beginning because she was entering
a field fraught with perceptions of mysticism. She insists that she's a regular person who
decided that intuition is not only real but inherent in all of us and just like anything
else it can be honed and developed. It's a skill nothing more. In the beginning it was
not easy though. Mostly because she didn't know how to go about things to developer her
skills and then to market and turn it into a viable long-term source of income but her
persistence won the day in fact some of her early sceptics are now her best clients. Tina
has gradually built her practice over the years serving a satisfied group of regular
clients around the world whose personal business and professional lives have measurably improved.
