The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that their most recent survey showed teen tobacco use was unchanged from the last survey in 2011. Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use has climbed, however. The CDC notes that tobacco is the most preventable cause of death in the US. Smoking is known to to increase the risk of lung cancer and has been linked to asthma, emphysema and heart disease. People who begin smoking in their teens are more likely to smoke as adults.
