Out here, it's crazy. Nobody's scared of the cops. We just know they're gonna violate us.
They always do it whenever they get the chance. You could be randomly walking, they'll come
out the car, slam you on the floor, search you. Like, sometimes I don't blame them, 'cause
there be a lot of drug dealers around here, but you can't do that to everybody. And you're
not supposed to, to tell you the truth. One night, I was drinking a little bit, I had
went home, and when I got in my house, I had a panic attack. My sister had calmed me down,
but she had called the ambulance. I went out in the hallway, the hallway is full of cops,
and they was like, "Yo, put your hands on the wall. We're gonna search you." I cooperated,
I put my hands on the wall, the cop searched me, he was like, "Do you have any weapons,
any items on you that'll hurt us?" And I was like, "No, all I have is my iPod, it's in
my front left pocket." He was like, "So, give that to your sister." When I went in my pocket,
I took it out to give it to my sister, they grabbed me, my iPod slammed, my iPod broke,
I have the iPod still broken. When my sister, she came out, she was yelling, she was like,
"Wait, he didn't do nothing, he didn't do nothing!" The cops pulled out the batons and
started hitting me in the head because I wouldn't go down to the floor. And I was trying to
explain. They cracked my head open right here, I was bleeding...there was blood all over
the floor, and they didn't even let me stand up. I got down on the floor, they cuffed me
because they could not get me down--they cuffed me and they picked me up from my arms and
my legs, and they picked me up, they let me go out the top of the stairs and I slid all
the way to the bottom. They picked me up again and threw me on the floor right behind where
she's standing, and they had me down with one cop with his knee on my back, my sister
came out, she's yelling, "He didn't do nothing, he didn't do nothing." They called the EMS,
like, "Yo, get EMS, get EMS!" after they had already cracked my head open, later to only
find out that I was 17. So like a 17-year-old can get beat down by like 7 cops and it's
okay? My dad even came, and he was like, "Yo, that's my son, that's my son." They pushed
him back, they wanted to arrest him too. He was like, "That's not your son," just because
of my height. I'm 6 foot 4, but I was only 17. It doesn't make no sense what they're
doing out here. Like, they wanna use force on every single person because they think
everybody from the hood is the same. It's not like that. You've got nice people, you've
got bad people, I understand that, but you gotta treat everybody the same. And they get
mad when they come by and we don't want them here, and everybody looks at them funny. Abusing
their power like that is not fair. It's just crazy. That's all I got to say.
