Sega exhibited a novel block based arcade game called "Block People" at the AOU2009 Amusement Expo.
Block People can be played by people of all ages, but especially parents playing with their children, because it requires only the simple operation of stacking actual blocks to complete tasks.
This is more like a puzzle game in which you actually use blocks, and there's never been a game like this before.
The game was designed with simple operations so that even small children can enjoy it,
and it basically involves feeding these characters some food.
When blocks are stacked in front of the screen, the characters called "Block People" climb on top of those blocks, and the blocks are used as scaffolding to guide the Block People to the food. If all of the food on the screen is eaten by the Block People within a certain time limit, the blocks are dumped into a bin to clear the screen for the next stage.
We conducted location tests as well and found that this game received very favorable reviews from families as well.
Block People is slated for release in the summer of 2009 and Sega is also considering releasing it worldwide.
