Hi guys. Today we gonna take you to Bondi Beach,
which is the most popular beach in Sydney or possibly Australia.
Bondi beach is 1 kilometre long and
and it's full of locals and tourists throughout the year.
It is also in Australian national heritage list.
Every Saturdays, there is a farmers market next to the beach and this is the reason why we go there today.
We gonna learn how to cook sweet and sour chicken
and we gonna buy some fresh ingredients for our dish.
Here we go. We've got onion.
Red bell pepper.
Green bell pepper
and pineapple.
Firstly cut the onion into cubes.
Cut both ends of red bell pepper.
Take out the seeds inside.
Cut it into strips.
Then cut them into cubes.
Same for the green bell pepper.
Remove both ends of the pineapple.
Trim the sides.
Remove the eyes.
Cut it into quarters.
Remove the core.
Then cut it into cubes.
Heat up 2 teaspoons of cooking oil
and add all the ingredients.
Stir fry for about 2 minutes.
Transfer them on a plate and we will use them later.
Now we prepare the chicken.
Get 255g of chicken breast.
Cut them into strips.
Then cut them into cubes.
The size is about 1 inch.
Add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
half teaspoon of white pepper.
1 teaspoon of Chinese cooking wine.
1 teaspoon of cornstarch.
Pinch of salt.
40ml of water.
Mix them well.
Marinate it for about 1 hour to let the chicken to absorb most of the water as we gonna deep fry them later.
Now we prepare the batter.
Add 1cup of plain flour.
1/4 of cornstarch.
1 egg.
1 teaspoon of salt.
Some white pepper
and a cup of water.
Mix it well.
And you can see the sticky texture.
After 1 hour the chicken has absorbed most of the water.
Mix the chicken with the batter.
Then we start deep frying the chicken.
We deep fry the chicken in 170 degree celsius.
You don't need a thermometer. Just drop a bit of batter. If it goes up immediate,
that means the temperature is good.
Add the chicken inside.
This time is to cook the meat.
Cook the chicken for about 3 minutes and then take it out.
We gonna deep fry the chicken again to make it crispy.
The temperature of the oil dropped after the first deep fry and we gonna heat the oil up again.
Deep fry the chicken for the second time to make it crispy.
Deep fry for about 1minute and then take them out.
You see. It looks really nice.
So nice!
And the meat is moisture.
Now we prepare the sweet and sour sauce.
Add half cup of cane sugar or white sugar.
1/4 cup of white vinegar.
3 tablespoons of tomato sauce.
1 teaspoon of cornstarch.
1 cup of water.
A bit of lime juice. It's optional but it gonna taste more refreshing.
Stir it well.
Heat the sauce in medium heat.
Get a taste and adjust to your favour.
Add the chicken
and the veggies.
Stir them well for about 1-2 minutes.
Then put them on a serving plate.
Also for the sauce.
