NRS 199.480 regulates conspiracy in the state of Nevada.
And a conspiracy, in the state of Nevada,
is an agreement by two or more people
to engage in an unlawful purpose.
Unlike the federal crime of conspiracy,
which requires an overt act, Nevada state law
does not require any act in furtherance of the conspiracy.
So in Nevada, you can be convicted of conspiracy,
even if you fail to carry out the actual crime.
An example of conspiracy would be,
you agree with a third party that you
are going to devise a scam to swindle money from the casino.
So you enter the casino and you're scoping out the tables.
You've got some kind of scheme in mind
where maybe your friend is going to see the cards
and tip you off.
You're behaving suspiciously.
You come into contact with casino security.
They question you.
And you say, well, we were planning to scam the casino out
of money but we never actually did it.
You get stopped before the crime is committed.
In actuality, once you engage in the conspiracy, or the plan,
to scam the casino, you have committed a completed crime
of conspiracy in the state of Nevada.
And you could be convicted.
