This is Mark. His company specializes in helping the medical community find sustainable ways
to provide healthcare at affordable prices for everyone. Because his wife Janet is a
passionate doctor, he has a unique perspective as to the real and practical needs of hospitals.
Now, he has a problem. He's been working on an idea that could possibly revolutionize
the way hospitals meet the needs of the community... but he just hit a brick wall...and his company
doesn't have the R&D to breakthrough.
Hmm, he thinks to himself....anyone for golf? Darts? How about a drink? He reasons anything
would be better than this. But who can he talk to, without saying too much!
Helen's been studying a particular area with direct implications on sustainability. Now,
after years of work, she's making some very interesting discoveries...in places she hadn't
even considered before! Just last night, she saw something she'd never seen before and
immediately started thinking about the paper she could publish...and of course the notoriety.
But then, she stopped for a second and thought out loud..."this could be really big".
Maybe bigger than sliced bread!
Maybe it would be good to find a high profile application to gain a larger audience.
Although publication is important, maybe there's a faster way to get the word out.
But, that can wait, she's meeting someone. Linda is a matchmaker.
No, not "that" kind of matchmaker... but she does help people with their relationships.
Business and academic relationships that is.
Universities are hotbeds for advanced research. Breeding grounds for discoveries by the best
and brightest minds around. But with all that mental output, and no release into the real world!
Frustration!
Linda works with AimDay. A university tool that helps businesses and organizations with
real development problems ... like Mark's...meet both frontline researchers
with ground breaking solutions like.... Helen...as well as established researchers
with a depth of knowledge and expertise. Right now, she's having lunch with James.
She can't wait to tell him about her new discovery... and he can't wait to tell her he's been visiting
a dating service...no, not that kind of dating service... one called AimDay.
James tells her it's a place where researchers like Helen ....
can meet people like Linda ... ...who will help them "hook up" with people
like Mark. Helen says she knows all about Aimday and
decides right then and there to see if there are any upcoming questions being asked that
might be of interest to her research. After two cups of coffee and a tip from a friend,
Mark has also found AimDay and is writing a short mail to describe his problem.
There...now you can go pick up your kids. You do remember you have two...blonde hair...
a girl and a boy? Linda just read an interesting mail...and
she knows exactly what to do with it. Because, she is a matchmaker.
Hurriedly, she types, "Helen...I've got a company you've gotta meet!"
Hmmm...let's see where this leads... Linda has invited Mark to a workshop at an
AimDay event where his company and many others can explore their options. She's also invited
a number of researchers like Helen, from a variety of fields, to discuss
the questions asked by the companies. Linda knows that this cross-functional AimDay
approach, means a greater depth of knowledge and expertise are brought to bear ...and solutions
are often found more quickly. AimDay is an established concept that helps
both business and researchers achieve tangible results.
It allows researchers to find companies and questions that truly interest them.
And it allows companies to establish long-term relationships with academia that will keep
them at the forefront of their market.
Ah, everyone loves happy endings. Boy meets girl, research meets business application...
finds funding... you know... a timeless pattern. AimDay just makes it easier.
So, how are your business relationships? Ready for some real action?
AimDay ...brought to you by Uppsala University.
