Hello everyone, today we are going to introduce the spacer, which is basically the device
we build to facilitate the positioning of holes in the ground. Here we see four spacing
rods connected using the connectors as well as connecting rods. You also see two types
of markers, rings markers and arrow markers, to mark the holes in the ground. The connectors
are the elements that hold the elements together. In order to assemble the device, all you have
to do is put the connectors in place and fasten them using the push pins. So we made diggers to help the clients make
holes of the right depth and right diameter. So we have four diggers right here, two for
the ground beds and two for the raised beds. The raised beds are around 20’’ off the
ground so [the diggers] are shorter than those for the ground beds. So in detail how the
digger works: there is the handle that the client holds on to while they push the digger
in the ground. There is also this special device here which helps the client know how
far to push the digger into the ground in order to determine how far the hole is into
the ground. So there are three holes right here corresponding to 2’’, 3’’, and
4’’. So basically, if you want to make a 2’’ hole, you place you indicator with
the release pin into the 2’’ hole and push it all the way till the other side until
you hear a click. When you hear a click, it shows that the indicator is securely fastened
to the digger. You push the digger all the way into the ground until the indicator touches
the surface of the ground and that’s how you know you have made a 2’’ hole. When
used in conjunction with the spacer ring markers, you have to take into consideration that the
ring makers are 1’’ thick off the ground. So to make a 2’’ hole you have to attach
the depth indicator at the 3’’ mark. [It is the] same procedure: pushing it all the
way through the hole on the other side. Pushing the digger into the hole in the center of
the ring marker until the depth indicator touches the surface of the ring marker. That
way you know you have made a 2’’ hole. Now I am going to demonstrate to you how the
seeder works. We have two types of seeders, one with the blue cap and one with the purple
cap. The purple cap [is] for the small seeds like the cabbage seeds and the blue cap [is]
for the big seeds like the beet seeds. Here we put in some seeds on the top, cap the tube,
and hold the seeder like so. When you press down the lever and release, seeds will come
out [from the bottom of the tube]. This is how the seeder works.
To address the transportation and storage issue, we provided our clients with a storage
bin and also a portable golf bag. As you can see, all four of the diggers and all four
of the spacing rods fit nicely into the golf bag. In addition, the connecting rods can
be placed into the side pack over here and then zipped up. The golf bag can be carried
around like this or also it can be put on your back and carried around like this.
