Hi, I'm Billy Kidd, I'm here on Expert Village and we're going to talk about the five-two
defense. With this five-two defense most of the time you're going to play some type of
gap defense to where this nose tackle, you may sometimes play him head up if he's a good
enough player like all these defensive linemen. Defensive linemen should be bigger people,
stronger people and built to take on people one on one because of their size and strength.
Linebackers are not quiet as big but faster to be able to move up and down the line of
scrimmage or drop into pass coverage. You're nose tackle typically is going to be a strong
guy, sizey guy, that?s quick. You're asking him a lot of times to control the center and
both sides of the center. You may ask him to play head up on that center, nose to nose
on that center and at the snap of that ball he's to get moving on that center and get
rid of that center and find the ball and get movement and see which gap he needs to move
to stop the ball.
