There are children from 10-12 years old
who are in the street all day
and no one is taking care of them.
Every child deserves a space of contention,
a space where they can develop as children
without having to be adults before their time.
I realize that, because they are children from marginal neighborhoods,
they come here and are happy.
The objective is that they choose what they want,
that no one says things like, "you can't" or that there are objectives they can't achieve.
This is why they deserve the same opportunity they give you.
The biggest challenge is to inspire and motivate people
so that they begin to see the light of change
that can move them in this direction.
Mario moves away from welfarism,
his objective is that the children develop a potential to transform their own reality.
When your reality, your environment, is criminal,
when you see that in your neighborhood you have to stay locked inside because of shots in the night.
The value that you place on life is totally different to that of another person (with a different reality).
If I were not here, I would be in the street.
I learned to listen to others and share with everyone.
I note that they don't discriminate, they don't fight.
I feel at peace knowing they are here and doing what they are doing.
Not only that, but Mario's team also trains those who are not living in poverty
so that they can take action and become part of the solution.
We are all part of society, we can't turn our backs on it.
Poverty affects me and all of the consequences of poverty affect me.
Today it takes two hands to keep them with us.
If I cross my arms, I am part of the problem,
and I don't want to give the problem that kind of satisfaction.
The workshops in hockey, music, art, e-learning and educational support
are ways in which these kids begin to enjoy their own future.
We want them to dream about their projects and that no one place obstacles in their path.
They need this. They need someone to believe in them.
When I grow up I want to be a firefighter.
I want to be a nurse.
A truck driver.
A teacher.
A mechanic.
When I grow up, I want to be a police officer.
I would like to have something like this and to help others.
In the foundation, we hope that every child can do what they dream of doing when they grow up.
What they needed was a family like what they give them in this moment.
I am super grateful to them, my son is happy thanks to them.
It gives me satisfaction to see them reach their potential.
The biggest achievements we have had with the children
is that they realize the difference between what is right and wrong.
