So you're moving in, and we want you to enjoy your new home.
This chapter will cover noise, dealing with antisocial behaviour
and being part of the community.
You will make noise in your own home,
but please try to keep the level down.
The following may help.
Keep speakers and TVs away from the walls backing onto your neighbours',
and keep them off the floors.
Don't use Hoovers or washing machines
when your neighbours are likely to be sleeping.
And if you're asking friends to visit your home
think about the noise they will make
and work out how you can keep it as low as possible.
Your neighbours will be very grateful.
Everyone has a right to live a quiet, safe and secure life.
Harassment or intimidation is not acceptable.
Antisocial behaviour covers a wide range of actions
that affect people and communities.
If you're worried about antisocial behaviour then please speak to us.
We work closely with other agencies to try and resolve issues.
Serious problems such as assault or drug-dealing
should be reported directly to the police.
(man) If you want to keep a pet you'll need to contact us
to see if pets are allowed in your home.
If you are allowed to keep a pet,
you're expected to look after it properly.
This includes making sure it doesn't make a mess
or a noise that disturbs the neighbours.
If you're not looking after your pet properly,
you'll have to find another home for it.
(woman) If your new home has a garden you will have to look after it,
unless we maintain it for you.
The way an area looks affects how people feel about living there,
so please help us by keeping your garden in good condition.
The area where you live may offer activities and events
that you can become involved in.
Find out what's going on in your local area.
You may see something that you'd be keen to be a part of,
as well as giving you a chance to meet the neighbours.
