I'm Ligia Pop. Welcome to my kitchen!
I'd like to show you how to make a simple, interesting recipe: Kombucha tea.
Kombucha is a mushroom formed of many microorganisms, which feeds on green or black tea.
As it consumes tea and sugar, the Kombucha mushroom transforms them into a nutritious enzyme soup.
Kombucha is therefore a beneficial probiotic beverage which does our body good.
We'll need a liter of hot water, two pouches of green or black tea,
and 100 grams of brown sugar (4 tablespoons).
I added the sugar to the hot tea so it can dissolve faster.
We'll let the tea cool down to room temperature, then we'll add the Kombucha mushroom.
We have here two mushrooms, a "child" mushroom and its "parent". We'll add the little one to our jar of tea.
We'll leave it in a dark place for 3-4 days, depending on how warm your house is,
Cover the jar with a piece of cotton cloth.
Use only wooden or plastic utensils as you mix the Kombucha in the jar. Metal can kill it.
Let's suppose the Kombucha tea is ready to be consumed.
Pour half of it into a separate jar and keep half in with the Kombucha.
Keep half or a quarter of the tea in the jar, add another 100 grams of sugar and two tea envelopes,
rinse the Kombucha mushroom with water and place it back in the jar after the tea has cooled down.
With this method, you'll always have fresh Kombucha tea on hand.
You'll see "children" mushrooms forming at the top, as the "parent" descends to the bottom of the jar.
You can also pour a part of the Kombucha tea into a separate jar, and if spores are present in it, one or more "child" mushrooms will form.
You can separate the "children" into additional jars so you can have multiple containers of Kombucha brewing at the same time. Or give them to your friends!
Thank you for watching! See you next time!
