>> I'm a horticulture major at the university.
And I am from Henry County,
which is a little south of Atlanta.
And I've been working out here for the whole summer
and a little bit during last spring semester.
I first got interested in the College of Ag
when I knew I had to transfer from my old school,
because I've been going to Gainesville for a few years.
And I went on a study abroad trip to Greece,
and I saw that in Greece, how important agriculture was
to the whole culture over there.
I feel like it's growing here, as well.
It just seems like it's really practical.
And I knew that I wanted to go to Georgia,
and I knew that they have a great agricultural program,
and that's when I decided the College
of Ag would be a good choice.
If agriculture continues to grow in the way
that it's growing, then future generations, the emphasis
on agriculture won't have to be applied to them
as hard as it is now.
Because I think since it's growing right now,
people are kind of, you know, advertising it,
and kind of marketing it.
And I think as it grows and grows and grows,
it's just going to become part of our culture as it is
in other cultures, and to where it's something
that everybody does instead of just a few people.
I've been working on the organic farm
for the majority of the summer.
And a couple of the perks, besides the knowledge
and the dean's promises, that I've gotten to experience
with cooking different things, and a lot of the vegetables
out here I get to take home.
And it's really a great experience being able
to eat things as fresh as this.
It's something that I've never had the opportunity
to do before, especially on my own.
Out here, it's USDA certified organic,
and it's as fresh as possible.
Horticulture is a unique major because it's growing.
And I think we're still in the beginning of the growth.
So it's unique now because it's something
that everyone should know how to do.
It's really important to know how to do.
And it's unique in that I feel like I'm getting a head start
or that I feel like I'm learning what I need to know
for the rest of my life.
