Hi, my name is Margaret Barrett, and here we are at NIWeek 2013 in the Robotics Pavilion.
I'm joined by the University of California - San Diego who are leveraging our brand new
NI myRIO in the robotics projects that they've brought with them here. myRIO is a new device
to National Instruments that we've just released here at NIWeek. We've put some things on it
that we think make it a pretty good robotics platform. But of course, these guys put it
to the test as some of our early access users and they've come back with some amazing results.
So I'm just curious, Nick, what are some of the things that you used on myRIO and how
did you find it helpful? The best part of myRIO for us, coming as single-board customers,
was the small size and weight. That really enabled us to create this smaller robot as
compared to some of our other ones. But it still had all the power we were expecting
from single-board. We were able to connect as much I/O as we wanted, configured exactly
as we needed in the FPGA, and get plenty of performance on the real-time side. We'll look
for their project, we should be seeing it more and more as it comes out, productizing
some of the innovations they have here. We're excited about that. Thank you guys so much.
