Hi and welcome to another Canva tutorial.
I'm going to take you though a few quick tips on the principles of design and what they can do for you.
If you would like to try this tutorial for yourself, please jump on to a desktop computer.
Balance makes your design look unified by using space evenly.
So let's try this ourselves.
To create balance in our design here, we simply need to take this suitcase and move it to the bottom left corner.
Repetition helps your eye move in the direction across the design.
So let's try this ourselves.
What we're going to do is duplicate this triangle twice creating a repeating pattern from left to right.
I'm going to select the triangle, hit copy move it into position, copy it again and then move that into position.
Now your eye is led from the face in the left to the face on the right.
Contrast means to put opposites near each other making them pop or stand out.
To make our text on the page here to stand out, I'm going to select the background and change it to a dark color.
Now you can see the text is much easier to read.
Dominance of one element over the other can make your design very dynamic.
So, we're going to try this for ourselves.
I'm going to take this blue box here, move it up to the top left corner and then scale it up so that it dominates the two red boxes.
Heirarchy is the order in which things are viewed based on their disability.
So let's do this ourselves.
I'm going to take the title and move it to the top of the page. Now, I'm going to take the magnifying glass and move it into the middle.
I'm going to make the title larger so that it dominates.
And then I'm going to make the web address smaller.
Now your eye should be drawn to the title first, then the icon and then the web address.
So that's it for this week's tutorial.
These are some tried and tested tips of the principles of design.
If you would like to share anything with us that you've designed, please do so on Twitter and Facebook.
That's all for this tutorial. Bye for now!
