At MWC 2013 we have found the booth of Caterpillar which since recently produces protected phones.
Guys from the company don't think that a protected phone can be elegant like Sony Xperia Z, for example.
No, it's a brutal, mannish thing which you can beat and water.
The device will keep working.
It is based on Android. Not always everything works well. The device can be dipped into the water (at a depth of 1 m for half an hour).
You can drop it from the height of 1.8 m.
The 4-inch display is made using tft technology. It has 800 x 480 definition. The image is good.
The device has a dual-core 1 GHz Mediatek processor,
512 Gb of RAM, 4 Gb of ROM which can be enlarged using microSD cards up to 32 Gb.
What do we have here? An on/off button, an audio jack under the cover. A microUSB port under the cover which is difficult to open.
There is nothing at the bottom. Everything is rubberized and steely. On the right side there is a volume key and a camera button.
The camera can take pictures under the water. It's not necessary to touch the screen, there is a hardware button.
The sales will begin in March, the device will cost 330 euro in Europe. It's unknown whether the device will be sold in Russia, to tell the truth, I haven't seen such gadgets in Moscow.
I'd give this phone as a present to a friend which works at the construction of Moscow-city. This is a good device.
We'll continue to look for an interesting stuff at MWC 2013.
