So we are here today to find out a little bit more about make medical injections saver,
a program that is run by JSI. This is a five year initiative.
We supply
injection devices of the new generation.
The MMIS program run in many countries over the last five years
has been amazing success for injection safety.
Consultant groups such as JSI, Chemonics and PATH
have insured that a holistic approach has been strictly applied in each of the participating
territories.
Hospitals such as Tumbi in Tanzania
now only stock and use autodisable syringes
the qualify to ISO standers.
The ideal scene is now being achieved in areas ranging from stocking level to demand prediction.
Staff training public awareness
and injection procedure.
Thousands of health care workers representing majority
had been fully trained during this program.
The public are also aware that procedure used is their right. They watched thier syringe being
removed from the sterile package,
each and every time.
It is disabled right in front of them
and then disposed of in the safest manner.
But this PEPFAR funded campaign goes further
insuring maximum levels of waste management.
Most significantly tho
the MMIS campaign
as for the first time put order into the curative or therapeutic delivery of injections.
Following the success witness
in immunisation delivery over the last decade.
Now participating MMIS countries
have the knowledge and tangible results of reducing infections
it is undeniable what a success this has been,
and has now set the achievable standard for all in the future.
