On behalf of Expert Village I'm Lizbeth Muller and today I'm going to teach you how to make
Cuban Black Bean Soup. We are going to take this black bean soup right now, it is just
water and the beans, we are going to turn it up very high and we are going to allow
it to boil for a while. I'm going to place two ingredients in here while it is boiling.
It has been boiling now for about maybe fifteen minutes and as you see it is boiling. The
beans are looking a little darker, the water I should say. The beans are not opened at
all, they are still closed but it is dark. I am going to place bay leaves and this is
what it looks like. These bay leaves are dry and you are going to place a couple in here.
Two bay leaves, and I like to use half a pepper even though later on in my sofrito I add pepper,
I like to place it in now. So all together and I just stir that in like that. And I let
it boil until I see that this opens up the beans. I should say open up and they lose
their color.
