Hi, this is Amy Lewis, Marketing Manager at Cisco Systems. We're here, on the floor at Citrix
Synergy. I'm here with Ashok. If you could, introduce yourself?
-Sure. My name is Ashok Rajagopalan. I'm a product manager in the Cisco UCS Business Unit.
-Excellent. So we're here today trying to get some information about what you're seeing,
the customer relevancy for Cisco UCS for the Citrix customers. What are you hearing about?
-Yea, sure. There's a lot of interest with UCS, as you see behind, a lot of crowd.
Primarily, the story around scale and density on the UCS servers
resonates extremely well with customers. Usually,
XenDesktop, XenApp environments are fairly large-scale environments. And we have a lot of
ease of manageability and simplification of how you deploy the environment;
a lot of value in that specific-use case.
We have also made a lot of enhancements in networking visibility all the way to the desktop
environment, virtual desktop environment. So all the key benefits that you get in a physical
desktop environment, we've kind of expanded all the capabilities to a virtual desktop environment.
We've also done a lot of work with VM-FEX technology
for app virtualization use cases especially with XenApp use cases.
We gave not just performance and better latency characteristics, but also DataMystic delivery capability.
Just scale out the XenApp environment. And to kind of round it all off,
we have the capability to have QoS and bandwidth provisioning for various pools of desktops,
if you have heterogeneous pools of desktops; or with desktops in classic data center services like XenMotion,
and backup, and the like. We make sure we give you the proper SLA's for the desktop environment,
and making sure that, you know, one of these backup environments don't
negatively impact your desktop end-user experience. So, it resonates extremely well with customers because
there's a tremendous interest in customers moving from classic desktop environments
to virtualized desktop use cases.
-It sounds like there's a lot of cost reduction opportunities as well. Has that been a message that you found-
-Yea, extremely. So we've- one of the key areas we focused on in
the last six months to a year is doing Tier 0 storage on the server.
So we've dramatically reduced the cost of VDI end-to-end deployment
from a customer perspective. So we've enhanced our caching capabilities and the ability to provide
image caching and the right caching capabilities on the server.
And that dramatically reduces the oral storage solution costs as well, yes.
-Fantastic. Well I appreciate your time today. Absolutely. -Sure, thank you Amy.
