Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Lalaloopsy Doll Cakepop Tutorial where I'll be showing
you how to make this gorgeous Lalaloopsy doll cakepops. Today we'll be making Blossom Flowerpot
but you can see her picture here with Cinder Slippers. And with a couple of modifications,
you can turn this into pretty much any of the Lalaloopsy crew.
Tools and equipment that we'll be using today: I've got lollipop stick
I've got a pre-rolled cakepop ball ready to go. If you don't have a great recipe for cakepop
balls. You can click on Cinder Slippers at any stage during this tutorial and she will
take you over to our recipe. I've got a pair of scissors.
A zip lock bag. In a separate zip lock bag, I've just got
a tiny bit of yellow, pink and white either fondant or modeling chocolate.
I've got some melted white chocolate. I've got some more melted white chocolate
that I've tinted pink. You can also use pink candy melts.
A fondant roller. Quite a fine paintbrush.
A sharp knife. I've got some black food coloring paste. You
will need paste, not liquid for this tutorial. I've got some candy necklaces. Now I've cut
my candy necklaces or candy bracelets up and I've just picked out the pink ones for Blossom's
hair. I've got a piece of soft eating liquorice.
Soft eating liquorice is quite pliable. And we're actually going to roll that out. If
you don't like liquorice or can't find soft eating liquorice where you are, black fondant
is also fine Couple of cocktail sticks or toothpicks
And I've got two piping nozzles. Now I'm using a number 9 and a number 5. And that just indicates
that this is a 9 millimeter opening and that's a 5 millimeter opening. So if you don't have
a full set of piping nozzles just have a think about what you might have around the house
that can just make those 2 shapes, whether or not it's the top of an eyeliner or a very
small container or something like that. You don't necessarily have to have piping tips.
I'm just using them to cut out the shapes for the eyes today.
Let's get started. Firstly, we're going to get our cakepop dipped.
So we're going to insert that lollipop stick into that lovely melted chocolate and pop
it into the flat bottom of our cakepop ball. Now we're going to let that seal set. It's
going to pop into the fridge for about 2 or 3 minutes just until that's completely hard
and lovely and set. Okay, so I'm happy that my lovely little chocolate
seal has set nicely. It's nice and firm. So we're going to dip the cakepop, just going
to dip it in, give it a little swirl around to make sure that that white chocolate meets
up with that lovely chocolate seal. Pull it out and just tap off the excess.
Alright, so I'm happy that that's a nice, round, even-looking cakepop ball. Now as I'm
tapping to, I'm also turning and that not only helps all that excess come off but it
also helps to distribute that chocolate really nice and evenly. I'm just going to take my
hand, and just my finger under there, and just wipe off any excess chocolate. And we'll
pop this off here to completely dry. Well that one's dry. We can prepare our Lalaloopsy
eyes. So I'm going to take that liquorice and just with my roller, I'm just going to
roll it out. So as you can see there, the soft eating liquorice does just, with a little
bit of pressure, roll out quite nicely. I like to use the soft eating liquorice because
it's really widely available. You can buy it in most stores and not everybody's got
bucket loads of black fondant around or wants to go and buy the quantities of black fondant
that they often want it to sell it to you in.
Alright, so with that black liquorice, I'm going to take the larger of my 2 piping tips
and I'm just going to cut out 2 eyes -- so 1 and 2. Now Lalaloopsy dolls have buttons
for eyes and this is going to help us make the perfect little button eyes. With that
smaller cutter, smaller piping tip, I'm just going to, in the center of those little black
circles, make a little second circle. It's a little outline for our button. And then
using that nice sharp knife, I just want to, a little cross just on that inside circle,
not on the other outside circle as well, 1 and 2. There you have one little button eye
and another little button eye. Alright, you can also prepare our little blossoms
for the top of Blossom Flowerpot's head. So to make those, I've just [got] a little bit
of white fondant. You can opt to buy these little flowers ready made from cake decorating
shops or in little packets but I'll show you how to make them.
I'm just going to roll about a pea-sized ball. Tear it in half, so you get roughly 2 even-sized
pieces of white fondant. And we're going to just flatten that out. If you've got a little
flower cutter, a flower cutter is great here. But if you don't, I'm just going to take that
sharp knife and just make incisions or little indents, I guess, with the knife all the way
around. Gives a little bit of a flower shape. If you love our tutorials, make sure that
you subscribe to our channel. We upload several times a week. We've always got new and innovative
ideas and great things coming out in the world of cupcakes and cakepops. We'd love to have
you stop by and check out what else we do over at My Cupcake Addiction.
Just finishing off that 2nd flower. You can see there they're not perfect flowers. But
without a flower cutter, they're a pretty, nice, neat shape.
We're going to take a little bit of that yellow fondant and just roll it into a ball. Press
it out into a little disc. And again. One of our toothpicks, tiny bit of pink or white
chocolate onto the front of those 2 blossoms and you pop your little center in. So that
would be the 2 blossoms for Blossom Flowerpot's hair.
Alright, now Blossom should be completely dry so it's time to dip her into the pink.
So with the pink, I just want to dip her to about... Find your best side of the cakepop.
So I'm thinking this is my best side for the face. I'm just going to dip her to about,
I guess, about a third of the way down the cakepop ball at the front and about halfway
down at the back to make sort of a hair shape. So just I want to dip her in just like this.
Don't come too far down at the front. But if you do, never fear. Interesting hairstyle
there, Blossom. So I just shake off any excess. If you do happen to come down or you've got
an uneven edge down the front, just take your finger while it's still wet and run it along.
You'll end up with a nice straight edge. That's the benefit of letting it dry completely.
So I'm just going to give her a little shake just to settle that chocolate on top. Once
again, it doesn't matter if it's not perfect. Now while we're waiting for that chocolate
to dry, we're going to take our snap lock bag, our second snap lock bag, and we're going
to just pop in some of that pink chocolate. You don't need terribly much. Closing up the
bag, pushing it all the way to the corner just before I close that last little bit.
And we'll cut a tiny tiny little nick in the end of the bag. That's going to give us a
nice little pink chocolate piping tip. We'll just wait for that chocolate there to completely
dry before we pipe on the final details for the hair.
Alright, so Blossom's little pink shower cap has dried. We're going to take this little
piping bag or little zip lock bag. Now I prefer to start at the bottom and come up and I like
to go along quite widely spaced and then come back and fill in the space in between.
Okay, so I've piped on the hair and it's almost dry. While we're waiting for that to completely
dry, we're going to add the little details on the face. So the eyes first, just a little
dot, not too much, because you don't want it to come seeping out the back of the eyes.
A little dot of that melted pink or white chocolate, whatever color you're using and
use that to stick down our eyes. And then we're going to take our paintbrush
and paint on the details of the face. We'll make the ringlets. I prefer to make them the
last thing that I add just because I want them to sit upright and dry completely before
I go moving her around too much. So firstly I'm going to take... You can see,
I've got quite a nice fine paintbrush there. So I'm just going to dip that in the lid of
my paste. I don't want too much on there. And I'm just going to make 1 and 2 little
eyelashes at the top there. Now the reason that you cannot use liquid
food coloring is because liquid food coloring just doesn't write on chocolate, even paste
it's not the best. But it'll do the job for these little details. So you've got there
your 2 eyelashes on each eye. And then we'll do our little smiley face. And I'm just going
to make it a nice small half circle. Alright, so she looks like this now and we just need to
get her some lovely pink cheeks. That's where our pink fondant or pink modeling chocolate
comes in. I'm just going to take just a very small amount of that pink modeling chocolate.
And once again I'm going to tear it in half. I always make a ball and then tear it in half
because I find it's a [good] way to get 2 nice even-sized balls out of it. You kind
of... It just gives you a good measure. You take something. You tear it in half. You've
got about the same amount. So I'm going to take just a little bit of
the pink chocolate. And right up close to the under side, right up close to the mouth.
And then we're going to take one of those pink balls and just flatten it down. And the
same on this side. Now you could just do pink chocolate there.
But the Lalaloopsys do have quite pronounced pink cheeks so I prefer to use that little
bit of fondant or that little bit of modeling chocolate but you could always just do a little
bit of pink chocolate dabs there. Almost ready to go, Blossom.
We're just going to finish the ringlets in your hair. So for the ringlets, I'm going
to take my little piping bag once again. And I'm going to just do a good-sized squiggle
from the crown down the sides. So just like this, you can see there I'm just doing quite
a decent amount of the pink chocolate. And then I'm going to do a front row, just starting
just off center of the crown -- 1, 2, 3, and I like to put 4. And then the back row, you
just want to stand the, up just a little bit higher in this row of chocolate. So they're
sort of poking at the top -- so 1, 2 and 3. We'll repeat that on the other side.
And last but not least, we have Blossom's little blossoms. Two more dabs of our lovely
pink chocolate glue, pick up those blossoms that you made earlier and rest them right
up against your ringlets. Be careful not to push the ringlets off. And she's going to
go over here into our polystyrene block to completely dry before we go tilting her, moving
her or doing anything else. So there you have your gorgeous Blossom Flowerpot
from your Lalaloopsy doll collection. For Cinder Slippers, we did the exact same technique.
We didn't do the piping on of the hair. I used a little bit of yellow modeling chocolate
and then just fashioned a little pink barrette out of modeling chocolate. So you can see
how easy it is there just to change up the way that you want to decorate your little
Lalaloopsys. Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial. Thanks
very much for watching.
