"If you get enough candles together, you can see them from space."
That's the basic idea behind the Avatar Candle Project,
and while it's mostly a metaphor in this case, the fact remains that if you get enough people
together unified on one cause, you're probably going to make the people who you want to notice
that cause notice it.
I'm Chaka from Kataang Forever forums, and my fellow forum member Rhed came up with this
idea after seeing The Last Airbender, which as I'm sure you've probably noticed wasn't
exactly what everybody thought it was going to be.
But that's okay. Because the fact is that we still have Avatar, and we still have Mike
and Bryan and the cast and crew and Nickelodeon to thank for having this great show, and we
want them to realize that no matter how this movie may turn out we still support them,
and we still want more Avatar.
The four things that this is mainly about:
One, we want to show Mike and Bryan and the cast and crew of Avatar that we support them,
and we don't want them to give up hope on the show that they have spent so much time
working for, and what they're still working for, I guess, with the Legend of Korra.
Two, we want to show Nickelodeon that we want them to continue with the Legend of Korra
even though this movie may not have done so well. We want to that the Avatar fandom is
still strong and that we'll still support this show and buy its merchandise, no matter
what form it may come in... whether it's Aang and the Gaang or Korra.
Three, we want to show fans who may have lost faith in the show why we love this show in
the first place. We don't want them to think that just because this movie isn't exactly
what they thought it was going to be, that the show is any less important to us.
And four, we want to show people who have seen the movie and not the show that the movie
is not reflective of the show, and they can't judge the movie based on that. Or I should
say they can't judge the show based on that, sorry.
Now, what you can do to help. It's very simple, really. It's basically a group of us coming
together to all send letters and fanart, pens and paper and pencils and care packages to
Mike and Bryan and the cast and crew of Avatar to show them that we still support them, that
we still want them to take those pens and pencils and write on the paper script ideas,
quote ideas, episode ideas, character designs, draw landscapes, draw characters, whatever
they want, and to continue on with this show that we love.
This fandom has been divided on so many issues... shipping, this movie. But the one thing we
can all agree on is that we love this show and want it to continue. So I hope you will
join us on this endeavor, show support for this show, despite what the movie may become.
Thank you.
